How long does it take to fix the pulley and timing belt on a Honda?

The pulley and timing belt broke on my 1992 Honda Accord, so I'm gonna have my step dad fix it..

how long does it take to fix both of these things? How long does it take to fix the pulley and timing belt on a Honda? If only those things broke, no more than a couple of hours, even less if your step dad is any good at it.

But if your timing belt and pulley broke, this means your valve train stopped, (but your craknkshaft and pistons didn't), so if you were driving when it happened and you didn't hear ant crunching sound your engine might be ok, if you heard a massive metallic noise your valves will be bent, your pistons broken and your cylinder head might be cracked.

I would asvise to take a little longer, and remove your cylinder head, check the valves, pistons, and dont' froget to replace your head and valve cover gaskets, as well as all the orings and the valve stem oil seals (while you are at it), a good cleaning of the heads and ports will be advisable, because you might as well do it if you remove the heads.

You will have to resurface the head before reinstalling, so you might want to remove some 100ths of an inch to increase compression, the shop where you take the head can advise you on how much.

Also ask for a three angle valve job (theyll know)

If you are positive that there was no banging, or metallic crunching noises when it broke, and the engine spins freely and once you install the belt and pulley the compression tests ok in every cylinder, don't remove your head an restar the engine.

If you have any doubts, take it out to check, if you start it with bent valves you will destroy the head and/or a piston.

BTW the head job will take an afternoon to remove and reinstall, plus a day or two for the machine job.

regards.

IvoHow long does it take to fix the pulley and timing belt on a Honda?Engine replacement is the easiest way. It is rare for a Honda engine to suffer timing belt failure without the valves hitting the pistons. How long does it take to fix the pulley and timing belt on a Honda?About 5 hours for a real good mechanic with the right tools. It's 400 to 500 dollars to have it done and the shops charge $60 per hour for labor but I'm not sure how much the parts are.
