Why does my VW Beetle alarm keep going off on its own? Is it because the hatch is stuck?

My 98 VW Beele has a sutck hatch. It just won't open. Not a huge deal because I don't want to deal with replacing the entire thing. But now (months later) the alarm will go off for no reason. It seems to be sporadic but a lot of times its right after it rains.

Anyone know why? or How I can turn off the alarm without opening the hatch?

Thanks so much for your help! Why does my VW Beetle alarm keep going off on its own? Is it because the hatch is stuck? There is a short arcing in humid conditions. This could lead to a fire. Check from int light trunk switch through the body of the car . First replace switch and work back down the wires from there. the wires lead to dash where you will find a chime cube plugged into your fuse block. But you will have to have the trunk popped at the dealer. As a jerry fix you can just pull out the chime and chuck a fire extinguisher in the car close at hand. Why does my VW Beetle alarm keep going off on its own? If this goes bad, it could also be causing your alarm to go off.
