My parents have a VW Polo and recently they have been unable to open the flap that covers the fuel tank. Normally you would press lightly on the side and it would flip open with no problem, but someone at one station forced it shut and now it's stuck. Is there any way to open it manually to put fuel in before they try to head to the dealer and fix it?How to manually open a VW Polo fuel tank? It's a guess based on my experience with US spec VW's, but maybe it'll help:
Here goes:
Try locking and unlocking the doors 2-3 times before you open the fuel door. The Golf (and maybe polo) has a locking pin that comes down and locks the door when the driver's door is locked and it may be stuck. Locking and unlocking may work it loose.
Good luck.
