Super came with 1600 cc stock which again is a 1500 enlarged. Weightwize, the struts on the Sb made it lighter than the torsionbar in the front. The Super beetle never came with the 1200. Bear in mind the 'Super' is a heavier car than the standard 1200.

I know there wasn't a great deal of difference in power between the two but I think the smaller engine would have to work harder to move your 'Bug'.
