I have to have a key made for a 72 vw bug my friend just bought and we don't have any other keys for it since the one it came with when we bought it broke in the door handle. Does the manual tell how to take it apart? Is it hard??????How do you take the ignition tumbler out of a 72 vw bug?to take the handle off just loosen the Phillips head screw on the door it is located right under the door weather striping just at the top of the closing lock. the screw is bigger than most ya cant miss it.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE OFF THE DOOR PANNEL.How do you take the ignition tumbler out of a 72 vw bug?I forgot, you need the key to remove the ignition tumbler. Since the door handle uses the same key, it would be easier to remove it and bring it in.
To remove the handle, you have to take the door panel off and once inside should be able to figure out how to remove the handle.
