How much to rebuild an engine on a VW Pasat ?

I just bought a 97 VW passat wagon glx

its in great condition with 100,000 miles



I was told its a great car but usually needs an engine rebuild at around 100k and it could be very expensive.



Just how expensive is what I am worried about.How much to rebuild an engine on a VW Pasat ?it all depends on whether you are going to do it yourself or send it to a garage. if you do it your self you are probably looking at something from 拢500-拢1100. If you send it to a garage it could be more than this, ive recently rebuilt an engine and it cost 拢55o but my engine was much older
