VW dealers are charging 拢100/hr and I am told I can get things fixed and service a lot cheaper with local garages, particularly when my warranty has expired. There's no point buying extended warranty right?!I have a 4 year old VW Golf. There are lots of independent shops that are BETTER than the dealer.

well, the problem with going to a local garage is that its not a definite that they will know what they are doing. But as long as they specialize in VW, you should give them a try. Worst case senario, it doesn't work out and you go to the dealership.



The best situation you could have is knowing and being friends with a certified master VW mechanic. You get the BEST deals that way, if they do side work :)
