97 vw jetta, 2 ?'s. How do i get the engine type, look for parts and ask if it is a or b,?

I have coolant leaking, Dont know if it is coming from hose or outlet. First time messing with vw engine so dont know much. When looking at the engine the outlet is at driver side of engine and hose going into firewall and also censors in the outlet. Is this just called a coolant outlet? And most important is there a gasket seal in it that could be leaking?97 vw jetta, 2 ?'s.
