You can get a 'code reader' for cheap at pepboys or autozone, but it's not the same thing as a scan tool. Especially the ones they use at dealerships. You wont be able to just buy a generic code reader from autozone or whatever becuase the program for programming keys is Honda specific and they dont give out the rights for stuff like that to other companies. A USED honda scan tool will still cost you around $3000. a new one is about double that.
