First Thanksgiving Dinner...Help!?

Hello!

This year I am going to attempt my first American Thanksgiving dinner. My husband and I are Mediterranean, and haven't really gotten into the all-american holiday foods since we've lived here.

This year we are having a big dinner with all of our friends and I'd really like to do it all by myself and our guests to really enjoy it!

I've put together my menu plan and have all of the recipes for the dishes. Could you guys tell me if it sounds good and what adjustments I should make, if any? Thanks so much!

Menu thus far--

Turkey and dressing

Macaroni

Mashed Potatoe

Sweet Potatoe Casserole

Green Beans Almondine

Cranberry sauce

Rolls

Apple pie

Pumpkin pie

Bread pudding

What do you all think???????First Thanksgiving Dinner...Help!?
I think your menu sounds very good, and thank you that you are including apple pie on your list, I hate pumpkin pie so when people serve apple, I'm a very happy customer. And I do love bread pudding yet no one makes it on Thanksgiving. You have a very good choice of foods. And like other people suggested make a list of foods that other people can bring, just like our family does. And if you want I like the idea of adding Mediterranean dishes to your meal. Also I would suggest maybe some corn, maybe even other veggies involved.

And to drink I would suggest tea, juice, and pop. That's what most people here like to drink, at least in my family. Get somebody to maybe get two cases of soda's or something.

I hope your Thanksgiving turns out well!

Hope I helped,

blondie.
I think this sounds perfect.First Thanksgiving Dinner...Help!?
I think you have a very good menu! One thing though that many Americans do when hosting Thanksgiving is they ask others to bring some of the food/drink items. That way, you are not responsible for ALL the cooking, cost involved, etc... As far as drinks are concerned, depending on your friends tastes and yours, you could serve sodas, wine, bottled water, whatever you prefer! Have a variety available.
Add in some canned corn, canned carrots, biscuits, stuffing, corn bread, blueberry pie.

Otherwise your menu sounds great.

You could serve sparkling cider or sparkling grape juice. They have it at the grocery store. Also basic water, soda and tea would be good.

I agree with FLmom, i think you should ask if everyone would contribute something. Make a list of what everyone is bringing so you know and anything that no one clams you will have to provide.First Thanksgiving Dinner...Help!?
That sounds delicious! I'm sure your guests will be well fed. Check out http://www.thanksgivingmenu.blogspot.com for more ideas. And have a great First Thanksgiving!
I think it sounds great ! But why not add some Mediterranean dishes too? Or put some of your cultural touches to the dishes your already serving? The first Thanksgiving happened becuase two seperate cultures got together to and shared there food. I am sure any Mediteranean dishes you make would be a hit.
Attention tina! This Thankgiving will be my first time to cook out a Turkey in the oven. Never done this before. My mother was the one who cook Turkey in the oven, but she has passed away now. My wife does not know how to cook period-bummer! So now I will attempt to do it -for the very first time too! Wish me luck!! I am 40, been married for 15 yrs.
