I'm one of those people who's ancestors came from the low countries of northern Europe. I inherited their sensitivity to whatever causes those gross odors and flavors in goat products that Mediterranean types (and 'froggers') seem immune to. Sheep and goats are closely related so I'm hesitant about trying a recipe that calls for peccorino cheese; a sheep milk product. It's expensive so I don't want to spend good money on bad cheese just to discover it tastes like B.O. and burn't rubber.Does cheese made from sheep's milk have the same HORRIBLE aftertaste as goat cheese?
I love goat cheese, gorgonzola cheese. buffalo mozzarella and almost every other cheese, but those of us who enjoy good cheese have rather sophisticated palates. If you are that sensitive to the gamey flavors in certain cheeses, you probably won't like the peccorino, though I've never found to have the strong flavor of goat cheese. You ought to stick to American, Cheddar and Swiss cheese to be safe.Does cheese made from sheep's milk have the same HORRIBLE aftertaste as goat cheese?
Two things I am unaware of,#1 about goats and sheep being closely related ,and #2 goat cheese tasting bad! I have never tasted sheep milk cheese however and cannot compare them. In my opinion goat cheese is much better than diary cow milk cheese.I have ben a 'goat diary man with many years experience handling, breeding and milking diary goats!.Does cheese made from sheep's milk have the same HORRIBLE aftertaste as goat cheese?
Nice ethnic slurs and stereotypes in your 'question'; were all your ancestors as small-minded and bigoted as you seem to be?
Roquefort cheese is made from sheep milk, and it tastes pretty good, I think! It just depends on what type of cheese is made from the sheep milk.
